Summary
ProtractorTool (protractortool.com) is a free online protractor / protractor tool that runs in your browser. Angle measurement and image handling for the tool itself happen on your device. We do not require an account. Optional site analytics, if enabled, measure traffic separately from the protractor canvas.
What the protractor tool processes locally
When you use the tool on the homepage you may:
- Drag protractor arms and read degrees
- Upload or paste an image or screenshot as a background
- Set a real-world scale, copy degrees, or export a PNG
Those images and measurements are processed with browser APIs (for example Canvas and File APIs) in your session. They are not uploaded to ProtractorTool servers for angle calculation or permanent storage by the product logic.
Clearing the page, using Reset, or closing the tab discards in-memory tool state. Exported PNG files you download are saved only where your browser saves downloads.
Theme preference
Light/dark theme preference may be stored in localStorage on your device. It does not include your photos or angle history.
Hosting logs
The site is a static site. Hosting providers (for example Cloudflare, Netlify, or Vercel, depending on deployment) may log standard request metadata such as IP address, path, user agent, and security-related events. Those logs are controlled by the host’s policies and are not a content database of your protractor images.
Analytics
If traffic analytics are enabled in production they may include:
- PageView (or similar privacy-oriented page analytics) scoped to
protractortool.com - Optional Microsoft Clarity session insights, only if a project ID is configured
Analytics are used to understand visits and improve the site. They are not used as a backend for protractor images or measurements. You can block analytics scripts with browser extensions or settings if you prefer.
Cookies
The core online protractor does not need cookies to measure angles. Analytics or hosting layers may set cookies or similar identifiers when those services are active. We do not use advertising cookies for the core tool experience by default.
Feedback form
If you submit optional feedback through the site feedback modal, the message content, product name, and related form fields are sent to the configured feedback endpoint so we can review bugs and ideas. Do not include sensitive personal data you do not want transmitted.
Children’s privacy
The tool is a general utility. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Classroom use is fine when students do not submit personal data through feedback forms.
Contact
Privacy questions: use the on-site Feedback control and mention “Privacy”, or contact the operator via the contact details listed on the About page when provided.
Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy as the product or hosting setup changes. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do.
